What does "under additional review" mean?

Hi all,

I had a service request on my "out of processing time" couple of weeks ago. Today, I just got a letter from USCIS saying they are actively process my case, and it's under additional review. If I don't get any news from them within 6 months, I can call them.

What does "under additional review" mean? Does it mean I'm in trouble?

When could I ever get my green card?

read old threads on additional review. higher level officer needs to review your case. Once the review is done they will take decision accordingly. No one knows when they will get a chance to look in to these type of cases. To my knowledge these cases are some type of background checks(IBIS checks).
