Hello Folks:

Sorry for this new thread. But I need help in interpreting the information that I got when I went to Local Office.

My I485 is in Locak Office and it was transferred to the San Jose office after we had our interview in Boston back in October 2005.

When I spoke with the officer (not IO) he said that quote:

" Priority Date
AvAL 7/1/07
I 485 Forward to 245 Unit "

What does this mean? Can you guys help me understand what he is trying to say. I mentioned that we are already interviewed.

Thanks in Advance

245 Unit sounds strange. All I can think of 245 is the 245i provision offered in Dec 2000 to April 2001 (Bill Clinton), where undocumented/out of status personnel were permitted to apply for employment green card labor.
Is your labor from 245I category???.
Did you use a sub labor???

Nope, I am never out of Status and I never utilized any provisions at all.My PD is November 2004. I am thinking that 245 Unit is internal unit

You did not mention your priority date but from your quotation of the Officers words, it appears that your PD is current as of July/1 using the original July Visa Bulletin. Since your PD is current, your pending I-485 has been sent to the department that processes the I-485 applications.

This department is internally known as the "245 Unit" because Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) section 245 deals with Adjustment of Status. See details of section 245 at this link (scroll down the page till you see "ACT 245" and click that to see the details) : http://www.uscis.gov/propub/ProPubVAP.jsp?dockey=cb90c19a50729fb47fb0686648558dbe

Hope this helps ......

Cheers !!

Ok my PD is 11/2004 - EB2 and we got interviewed on 10/2005 in South Portland and at the time of interview there are no visa numbers since there is retrogression and IO mentioned that once Visa Dates become current they will mail our Cards by approving/adjudicating. We moved to San Jose in 12/2005 and updated the South Portland with AR11 with San Jose address. Hence our applications are transferred to San Jose Local Office. On July 1st our PD became current and we went to San Jose Office and asked the status of our case. The Officer mentioned that they are going to pull out our applications and approve the same day. I had doubts and filed for our EAD and AP renewals and requested the help of Congresswoman to expedite our applications including AOS(I485 application) in San Jose Office.Again on July 16th I took infopass appointment and went to San Jose office and those guys even did not take out our applications from Inventory room.
I spoke to the officer and this time spent more than 1.5 hr in the office and finally the officer showed our case file and said he is going to hand it over to supervisor and i asked a proof of my visitation to the office. This is what he wrote on our infopass appointment and tore down the lower part of the appointment which has some information.
So can I assume that there is a Visa Number for our application? Can I see my approval? He said they will respond in 4 - 6 weeks.I also got the response from Congresswoman that our applications are waiting to assigned to the officer.

Gcrayudu ,

My case is strange , I had same case as yours and after priority date current they send me approval notice and in that notice I can go to new ark office to stamp my passport and when went there they said they sent file to vermount center to prepare GC and now they are doing security check on me and they do not have any idea when it is going to be clear . Better once you get approval just go for stamp atleast you know what they are doing at center office where GC are getting prepared . My PD was May 2002 and case was aprroved on 06/19/07 . I went there today 07/19/07 .

Thanks
shailesh

I am not sure i am quite following what you are saying. How did they approve your case when they are doing security check? That is totally surprising me.My security check is complete way back in Aug 2005 and September 2005 for my wife and myself.I don't know what they are going to do either but looks like it is awaiting to be assigned to an officer.

Did you get interviewed too?
