What does this message mean for EAD ?

When I check my case status online, it says "after approving your application, we ordered you a new card. Processing normally takes between 60 and 90 days. Your card will be mailed to you as soon as it is ready."

What do they mean by "new card".

Some people have a message that says "On October 17, 2002, an approval notice was mailed. If 14 days have passed and you have not received this notice, you may wish to verify or update your address. To update your address, please speak to an Immigration Information Officer during business hours."

A friend was saying that ordering of the new card is the first stage of EAD. Once INS receives new card, then the message changes to "an approval notice was mailed".

Is that correct ? If so, how long does it take for the new card ?

Your EAD card is approved....

From the message posted by you, it is understood that your EAD application has been approved and they had ordered for your EAD card. You should receive the EAD card in the next 30 to 60days. Hope this helps.
 
you will receive your approval within a week 60-90 days is the total processing time for EAD
When your green card gets ordered you get it within a week however they keep saying processing takes 365 to 540 days which is time frame for total processing of I 485
