What does that mean?

I just received an e-mail from CSC and I am puzzled. It says: On December 2, 2004, we responded to your request for more information concerning your case.
I have not requested any info, etc. Is that a standard message for RFE? Thanks a bunch!

it means you or your attorney query the status through fax, phone or whatever, and they have replied to your query.

No. Its not an RFE.
Its a standard message for an inquiry when they send something to you by mail or by phone.
Did you start an inquiry? Please post your 140/485 details.

if you take a count how many people requested information about their cases and didn't get any, you shouldn't be surprised that some people got response without asking. We can start a collection of status messages that don't make any sense.

Certainly, this is not a standard message for RFE.

RFE message sound like: "On December 3, 2004, we requested additional information or evidense... blah, blah, blah"
