I am an EB3 applicant with priority date July 2003. I did my FP in September, Now i have received a biometrics notice. what does this mean. is my 485 close to being approved?

Thanks
Nikhil

It means that the USCIS needs you to go to an ACS and take a photo and FP your index finger. This will be used for the actual plastic green card. It means you are getting closer to approval. How close? Hard to say, perhaps a few weeks to a few months. Regardless, it's great news for you.

biometrics notice even while dates are retrogressed

I just got married and haven't filed for my wife's 485 so I am a little concerned about getting the 485 approved so soon. She just came here on the dependent h4 visa. how can the 485 be approved so soon while the dates are retrogressed. I guess it's good news that i am closer to approval but not really considering my circumstances.

I am in the process of hiring a lawyer for my 485 case. does anyone have a list of documents I will need for her so I can get started in ahead of time..

Thanks in advance...

I did not pay attention to the EB3 category, but knowing that and the DOS visa bulletin dates, it seems like you are a couple of years away from approval then. Strange hough that you are asked to go for biometrics two years before a visa number becomes available to you. Usually, people go for biometrics pretty close to approvals.

I wondering why I got Biometrics letter for todays day just 2 weeks after filling I-140/I485. The picture was taken, then index finger, then all 10 fingers.

Are you from a retrogresed category? If not, I experienced the same as you, very quick FP and bio letters folowing filing. If you are from retrogressed country, it makes no sense to go for FP and bio years prior to available visa numbers.

Code 3 Finger Printing or Bio Metrics

My wife and I got appointments for a code 3 - Finger Printing I think. We got the letter just 2 weeks after the ND for our 140/485 concurrent filing. I am still not quite clear what the difference between FP and Biometrics is. In addition there seem to be such as thing as Code 1 and Code 2 as well.

Coud you guys shed some light on this ?

Still things seem to be progressing rather well right now - so let's hope that EB2 won't retrogress in the near future for the rest of the world.

Biometric means they haven't forgotten your case, that's it. Retrogression doesn't stop they process your case except final approval. The biggest hurdle is still restrogression and probably name checking. Prepare for years!

No, I am not from retrogressed country. EB2 still current for me. Hopefully fast biometrics will have a positive input towords I-485.
