The online message for 485 still reads that FP1 was received in 2002 in spite of the fact that I got FP2 done in April end. I have now registered on BCIS site and next to my case #, it says last updated "05/04/04" but when I look at the online message it still tells me that FP1 was received in 2002. Same for my husband.

I called FBI and they said that they had electronically transmitted the results the same day the FP2 were received and everything looks okay from their end.

Questions:
(a) Does the last updated date of 05/04/04 mean that the FP2 results were entered into the system but somehow the system that shows detailed status was not updated

(b) I have seen that *normally* the FP2 details are updated within 1 week of FP2 and then approval is received within 8-10 weeks. Since my FP2 has not yet been updated, should I be taking some action (talking to someone at BCIS or talking to my lawyer etc.)

I have noticed the same with my FP. I tried to enquire (here in forums and checked with my lawyer).

This is what I was told :
"Ignore it"
"The online msg is very unreliable"
"USCIS online is strange ... buggy"
...
so on and so forth.

Hence, I stopped worrying about it. :)

We did FP1 on Mar 2003 and all along the online msg was saying, "FP1 recd. and pending review.". (for both of us).
However, about 10 days back, the "last updated" date changed to 4/28/2004 but the online msg was still the same.
Yesterday, again the "last updated" date changed to 5/10/2004 but the online msg was still the same.

What does this mean??. Is something really happening or buggy?

Same thing happened to me but second FP done in august 2003 was updated on " last updated " section of the CIS log in site. 2 days in a row. Called them theydid not have info. Once they said check complete next time they said theyr werenot.
My spouse site also updated same dates but her message was for FP done in 2002. She called CIS and they said last FP done in 2002 no mention of repeat FP done 3-2004.
Only thing could be her FP was scheduled 5-2004 and after that the process was updated after that?
 
The BCIS site states upfront- last update change may not result in status change. That happens because of internal processing activity- not leading to status change.
 
whiteone, if your online date is changing repeatedly but the online message is not, then my guess is that someone is touching your case i.e. probably some adjudicating officer has your case. You may hear the decision soon. All the best :)

We applied for 2 EAD and AP in Dec'03. Mine got approved y'day and my wife's not yet. DO you think that the officer approving my EAD had to go thru my I485 application and thats why there is a "last Updated" date of May 10, 2004?.

Or its really the officer who is adjudicating our I485?.

Your thoughts?.

You have solved my mystery. My FP notice got updated on 5-5 and last updated changed on 5-6 again. Assuming the expedite letter trigered some thing. Called INS no straight answer, check clear one day then not clear the other day. Till on 5-10-11 2004 the message for my EAD changed due undeliverable some thing which no body what it is.
So the assumption is as you noted above. But my derivative's case was also tocuhed w/o changein FP message done 2 months ago.

I have the similar situation. Our (myself and my wife's) FP was done in 3/4/04 and 485 online message had " ..... Results of the FP received on 3/10/04 ....". Now, we got our 2nd EAD approved on today (5/12/04; ND:02/10/04 VSC) and could see 485 online message " ..... Results of the FP received on 5/6/04 ....". This means that someone will update the date?
