What do they do?

Okay I'm new to this site and googled around a bit. What I would like to know is what they (the INS) actually do when they review your I-485  . I know one of them is a name check but what else...

some info about me
I submitted Perm 11-1-06 got approved 11-2-06 :p
submitted I-140 11-17 got approved 11-30 :)
Looks like this is going to fast and will be waiting for my I-485 forever as punishment, but then again I have Nuclear clearance  so the the name check should not be an issue

Thx for the help

Hi Holland, well, by the sound of it you should not have a problem. At I-485 stage they issue finger printing notice, and you do them. At the time of filing they initiate a number of security checks where I personally think it all depends on your name. The less common, the better. But other than that, once you have your I-140 approved it should a smooth journey. Good luck!
