what do they check in 485

Hello Gurus,
What kind of checking is done in 485 and 140. As I know , in 140 they check company status and our experience, education. In 485 stage what do they check?

* Your criminal background (using FP and namecheck)
* Whether you were in legal status throughout your stay in US (upto the day of filing 485)
* If you've changed jobs, they check for AC-21 portability application
* Right before approval they may also re-verify the permanent job offer.

And other stuff we don't know about ;)

But for the most part, your application is just waiting for something to happen.

Don't they check our past work experince in 485 statge? The reason why I am asking is my 140 is apporved recently and I didn't submit my previous to previous company expereince letter as my ex.employer refused to give it.

I don't think so .... work exp. is usually looked at when 140 is being processed.

I've not heard of a 485 RFE requesting past work letters -- only current employment proof is requested.

Wouldn't hurt to try and get that letter while you are waiting ! -- but I won't worry too much now.

BTW, are your EB1/2/3 and what's your PD and are you from a retrogressed country ?!?
