Hey guys,
I have a problem:
About 10 or more days ago I received a letter for Finger Print notification(I-797 Notice of Action) for the N 400 form. The date of my fingerprints is August 30, 2007 in Miami, FL. I am a student at the University of Florida which is located in Gainesville, FL and yesterday I moved here to start my Fall semester classes. I cannot make it to my appointment for the fingerprint and Gainesville does not have and ASC center. The closest ACS is in Jacksonville, Fl. Should I transfer my application to Jacksonville? or should I reschedule my appointment for the next available Saturday? It is very hard for me to take trips to Miami since it is 350 miles away but on the other hand I heard that transferring your application could mess up everything. Has anyone transferred their file to another ASC location and how? How long will my application be delayed if I reschedule? I will probably need rescheduling for the Interview and the Oath as well if I do not transfer my application. Suggest me what to do.
Thanks in Advance!!!!

Hi!

Several questions:

1. Did you previously live in Miami?
2. Did you move from Miami to Gainsville after applying?
3. Did you file for a change of address?

4. If you did relocate, you have to file form SR11 can be done online:

You can't live in a different district (unless it is your permanent address there.. and you still rely on your parents).

Contact USCIS on the phone.

My best advice.

1. Yes, me and my whole family lives in Miami but I left to start classes to Gainesville.
2. Yes
3.No but I guess I will.

I did contact USCIS on the phone but they did not give me a definative answer. They told me to send a letter to the local ASC saying what I want.

I have a question:
Lets say I do not transfer my application to another ASC and I send a letter to reschedule my appointment for the next available saturday. My appointment is on August 30, 2007 which is a thursday and I cant make it. If I come to the ASC on September 1st, 2007 will they be able to get fingerprints from me.

Thanks

Imp thing is have you changed DOs during this move? Look it up by checking the DO for your new addr. If the DO has not changed then just show up on 1st and do the FP in your old city. Usu they allow late FP.
If your DO has changed then you can do the FP but will have to update them about your addr change. This is bcoz of the rule that you have to live for 3 months in the DO to qualify for the iview.

Attending a university is not necessarily considered as having relocated your residence to the district office related to the university. Look up the details of how that is treated.
