What could be the reason for this EAD??

it says on Jan 7 2003 means the date INS received the pettion by mail or datesenter the data??? My questions is what is meant by received date??? What could be the reason for denying .. actually it is not my case .. i applied recently so i am lttle bit tensed ?? please comment??

Friend of mine received this message 4 months ago on this EAD application. Turns out she had signed her name with black ink - as a result INS thought that the application was photocopied and rejected it. She got the application approved 2 weeks after resending it. There could be other minor reasons e.g. photos don't show right ear or you might have forgotten to sign the check. Don't panic - I never heard of a EAD being rejected when the I-485 is pending.

I guess the person who is taking has to sign on the back of it ???

Your application was NOT properly "received" by INS. INS does not consider it "received" / "filed" until it is filed correctly.
