What can you do while on H4?

Most of now have started J1 waiver jobs on H1Bs.

Now the question is what can spouses and children do legally on H4, for example:

1) Go to school, college?
2) Volunteer work? Any limitation what kind you do and not do?

Any other possibilities?

You can go to school or college, and you can volunteer. However you can not do volunteer work if that same work would be a paid job for an American.

--> to go to college/school, do you need to convert to student visa?

--> Volunteer work.... if it is not done free as a volunteer..... someone have to be paid to be done... having said that.... you cannot do any volunteer work then... it seems to be a grey area.... any type of volunteer work could be argued either way...
