Hi guys

May be I am no t right. But I thought there is a limit on number of GCs given out each year. And each country has their own limit. A recent bill, made the unused Qty to be shared by other countries. Even then since there is a limit, Did INS hit it, bcoz of these excess filing in JULY, AUGUST '01. However fast they process, if there is nothing available for this year, should we wait for the next year's quota to open up?

GC limit per year

Hi cl4babu,

By law, there is a limit for the number of
employment based GC's that can be awarded
each year. I believe it is 140,000, but I am
not sure. However, because of inefficiencies,
understaff or whatever, INS has historically
awarded MUCH LESS than that number of
employment based GC's (I believe typically
between 60,000 and 70,000, if my memory
is correct). So that theoritical limit has never
been the limiting factor, and it's probably not
going to be a limiting factor any time soon.
