Went for Passport Stamping but was asked to come back in 3-4 weeks

Just now returned from INS office in VA . They took both our photographs and signatures , a copy of the approval notice and said that they have introduced some new security "crap" and it may take another 3-4 weeks before I get another notice .

I then would have to take that notice and go again for stamping.

This looks like the first such case. Were you the only one who was given this answer today? Was there anyone else with you for stamping who was also sent back? I have never read anything similar to your experience yet.

and it\'s no longer a Newark-only phenomenon. Thanks for posting the message so we can have an idea how wide sprread the problem is.
 
Yep it\'s the Arlington office

The lady at the counter said that effective today they have started this extra check .
 
Any Sep 01 approval or any RFE\'s.

I applied I485 in Sep 2001 details as follow:
EB-2
B.Sc, MBA USA
Centre: VSC
FP: February 2002
Applied EAD April 9, 2002 waiting for receipt
When should I expect EAD receipt or green card approval.
 
It\'s going to be passive wait! But, now the case is with the local INS..

no phone #s were given. Supposedly, a mail will be sent informing to come back for PP stamping..
