I have been screwed out of one job so far thanks to USCIS. I was told yesterday during an interview that I would have been given a job offer, but since my citizenship is in question, they can't give me one. (You have to be a citizen to work in law enforcement in my state). This sucks even more because this is a place I have wanted to work for the last two years.

I've worked very hard to get myself to where I am today, and it really hurts to see this all ruined because USCIS can't give me an oath notice, nor even tell me when I'm going to take the oath. My case has been approved apparently, but this means jack.

Three cheers for the USCIS!!! :D

That's bad :( I am sure pretty much all of us have stories of plans that got postponed or never realized because of immigration issues (this also applies to delayed green card, EAD and things like that). I just hope that once you naturalize you'll be able to reapply for this job and get it. Unfortunately life sometimes throw this curve balls at you that are out of your control. That's why I chuckle when I listen to some people saying that one has absolute control about their destiny, they probably haven't heard of USCIS.

HAHAHAHAHA, so true!

Maybe we should have a "How the USCIS screwed me" thread :)

Sure they have heard. They have just been lucky but will not admit so, instead believing that theirs is a unique case unlike the ones who are stuck.

I wonder... does USCIS make any reference to the potential delays of the FBI name check process on their site or in their citizenship guide? All I knew going into the process was that it took "6-9 months to finish". If I knew what I do now, I would have applied MUCH sooner.

Hey, I just realized that I'm at 150 days now since my interview :) (and no, I'm not filing a WOM).
