Welcome Notice and Email

As I posted earlier, I received the following email from the CIS today. When I got home I found the Welcome Notice in my mail, which is dated April 20. So, I asume this email, 7 days after the Welcom Notice, is regarding GC production. After getting the Welcome Notice, how long does it usually take to receive the actual card? Here is the email:

On April 27, 2006, your I485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status was received here for processing. It is taking between 570 and 600 days for us to process this kind of case. We will mail you a decision as soon as processing is complete.

Like I said, that email does not make sense as it is saying they just received your I-485 application. It is probably a mistake on their part.

As for how liong it takes to receive the GC after approval....well, I got it within 9 days. Some got it after 5 days, some got it a month later, some waited longer. It depends. You were approved on April 20 I gather, so it is still kinda new; just wait.

as u can see ..

as u can see in my time line. I got it around 7-8 days after the "we're sending u welcome notice bla bla bla" ...

the weird thing is I never get an email (I do get their welcome notice through mail, 3-4 days later 'n the next 3-4 days I got my actual gc)

Gino,

It depends. I received an email confirmation of the gc production two days after my welcome notice, but I received both my welcome notice and gc the same day in my mailbox. Unfortunately, my gc was damaged in transit and I had to send it back to the NSC for replacement. Currently, I have not heard back from them. No receipt number or notice of action.

Thanks alot everyone. I got another emaily saying that "after approving your application, we ordered you a new card. Your card will be mailed to you as soon as it is ready." It seems that I may get it soon. I'm leaving the country on 7th of May and it will be grat to get the card befor that.

Mentos, there are a number of posts on interviews at the local office, you may wanna read them for detailed information. My interview was short and easy. The IO asked for my employment letter, tax returns, and brith certificate, which I did not have with me and delayed the approval of my case by 4 months. He also asked a few questions from I-485. So, make sure you review your I-485 applicaiton and bring all the documents with you. It will be fine, don't worry too much about it.
