Weird thing about I485

One of my friend submitted his I485 along with his wife this May to Vermont center. He said that He found his case was approved, while his wife's status still not changed? what does that mean? He did current filling and have I 140 approved yesterday. I guess that after 140 was approved, they took out and eximined his I 485 application, but why wasn't his wife's case touched? What does it mean? Did anyone have the similar situation.

USCIS not necessarily approve both same time.

If there is any RFE and before they send that, it takes some time to review and send.

Many reasons...it is hard to guess...after all it is USCIS

He might call 1-800 number using his receipt # and select an option in the menue "Applications filed together got separated". Then, he will talk to an VSC officer. Sometimes it's very helpful.
