* * * We missed the BOAT guys

It appears for me that

People applied 2002 and later should start looking for alternatives to 'lead' life. I used the word lead because there is no meaning in word 'settled life' in these ages :D

The people who are waiting in here unendingly may be MISSING opportunities in other parts. Also it is hard to take decision to quit this GC process in middle and adopt a 'new life'. We are a kind of caught in between.

It appears that we are travelling in a SINKING BOAT.

Any idea ( with possibilities and facts ) to keep morale ups ? :D:D

That's right - some people in the IT industry (especially in the area of software development) might have missed the boat because the jobs have already been exported to other countries.

It sounds me that you are saying there are opportunities in other fields that IT ? What are they ???

Some examples are: healthcare and finance dealing with the elderly.
The baby boomers will start to retire in 2008, go figure ..
Even these days, many states are experiencing shortages. They are scrambling to find good nurses, nutrition specialists, etc.

It sounds GOOG.. thanks ...

Do you know why ?

At least Nurses cannot be off-shored :D:D

So should we persue course in Nursing to be on safe side...

You are absolutely right! In the last few weeks, I received a bunch of ads from universities in my mailbox; most of them offering education to become a nurse, health care professionals or similar.

As of today, i don't think we missed the boat. We are still sailing in
clear water(ofcourse the destination is still far away). You should have seen that a majority of people in this forum are having a job with a big pay (look at the salary survey in this board). Nobody kmows what's going to happen in future. So let's not be unduly worried.

Like dsatish, I also feel that we are safe as of today. Few years back even I used to do various calculation to count immigrant visa availability for Indian nationals and assumed very few Indians will get GC and I didn't apply for GC. But BCIS was issuing visa not based on actual number but just on assumption. Few years later AC21 changed the whole scenario. Today based on AC21, visa limit based on nationality is meaningless since visas unused by certain nationalities will be allocated to others.

Give me tips

Hi guys,

Sounds like you already had or having experience of working in US. So, tell me what is the main set back or what is the best thing of working in US? Just wondering...I'm looking of job now, but have to wait for my EAD, my first time ever working in foreign company, but I don't have problems working with big companies.

Honestly, I'm quite nervous to think about how other ppl will except or think about me when I work with them.

I was silent spectator of this forum for a long time. I got lot of info from this forum. So I thought it would be better to be an active member than a silent spectator.

I think you are obsolutely wrong again. . . Check this out . . .

http://www.nursesanytime.com/

If you chose the nursing career, you sure are going to repent on that. . .

The web site does not mention about offshore nurse jobs .. or am I missing something?
If you read the Welcome page, you will get the idea that this company provides help/assistance for those who want to work and live in the US as nurses.

Think of the movie 'Meet The Parents' and then think again of becoming a nurse.
One advantage is that there'll be a lot of pretty women working with you which is very much absent in the IT industry.

But it does say that it will bring people from outside the country. And again it will be the same issue, that we currently are facing. more people, less jobs, less salaries etc etc . . . then again change the field.
