We just had a baby boy on the Feb 20, and my wife may not be able to stand in line for long time. Can anyone tell me how long it will take to get stamping at New York, 26 Federal plaza INS and what is the best time to go?

One friend of mine stood there for 5 hrs

so why don\'t you do it in couple of weeks? It is not so urgent

yes that seems to be much more logical....

get yours stamped now..and hers later on.....

take care....

one can stand in line and other can sit on a chair :)

If you can not wait then you better go after 7:30 (may be around 8am). Only you can stand in a line and she can sit inside. Your wife will not have to stand in a line.
I saw couple of ladies with small kids waited inside (in VA) and their husbands were in the line.
Once you go in, she can sit in a waiting seat and she will only be required at the ticket time or stamping time.
Thats how I did and I had no trouble.

Ask your wife to sit on 3rd Floor.

I suggest your guys do together. You can help her a lot.
This is my experience.
I did PP on 1/25/02. Arrive in Federal Plaza at 11:00AM, and get out 2:00PM. The PP room is on 1st floor(room 102) and the line is so long. No seat on the 1st and 2nd floor. There is a big waiting room on 3rd floor. Your wife can sit and wait over there. She does not be in line with you. Once your PP turn coming, then bring her down.
Use escalator to reach 3rd floor. Restroom is on 2nd and 3rd floor.

Good luck.
