Having worked to create a situation where I can afford to be in my condo on a nice island in Indonesia for 8-9 months a year and doing contract work here in the States 3-4 months a year, I was surprised and disappointed to find that if I marry my Indonesian girlfriend, she might not be able to spend that much time overseas. (She is here in the US with me now, on a 5 year multiple entry tourist visa) All I'd be able to tell the person at Immigration upon our return is that she had every intention of returning to the US with her husband when she left, and that he in turn most definitely planned to return, since he needs money and definitely won't work for local wages in Indonesia! We dont really have a home here in the States as I work all over the country, btw; I suppose that looks bad too. I think a re-entry permit wont help as these are periodic trips overseas, not one long on. It's tempting to just continue with her tourist visa as we are, but after 3 years together I'd like to marry her. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
(if we stay w the tourist visa scenario: if I apply for a 6 week extension now will it be hard for her to get back in 8-9months from now, still as a tourist?)
