Walk-in FP question

I just saw my online status today stating that I have an RFE on my N-400, however some helpful folks here stated that it was tjust he finger printing notices.

My question is that the FP date is usually within two weeks of the FP notice date. Unfortunately, I'm travelling that week and I'm afraid that the FP date would be on the date that I'm out of state.

I've been reading about walk-in FP.
Can this be done @ Elizabeth NJ ?

Does this mean that even though I have a set date for FP,
I can still walk-in and get the FP done ?

If the walk-in is not possible, can I re-schedule the FP ? I believe this is not advisable since the next FP date that they give you can be way out ?

Any response appreciated.

I am not from NJ and therefore cant tell you exactly what you should expect but your FP notice should tell you if you can do walk-in or not. For example, my FP notice states that if I cannot make the FP appointment, I can go to USCIS office any following Wednesday to get the FP done as long as its done before Jan 10, 2010. I got there yesterday (which was before my sheduled appointment) and I was told the following Wednesday they talked about in the FP notice meant after my sheduled appointment but they were nice enough to let me in and get my FP done. Although I had to explain to them that I need the time around my appointment to prepare for my exam before they let me. They are very considerate at USCIS offices (from personal experience and what I read here) and so will work with you on your unique situation.

So peradventure you do not get someone from your DO to answer your question, I will say you should wait for your FP letter in the mail. In fact, if it tells you a particular day of the week that you can do the walk-in, you can even do that before you travel and just explain to them why you want it done early if you are the kind that cant wait. If you can wait, you can just do it after your travel. All I am saying is you may not need to reschedule.

Wish you the best.

John

Just go there few days before you are travelling and show them the proof that you are travelling on certain dates and I am sure they will allow you if they are not busy. I did it on Saturday.
