Do they allow anywhere in Brooklyn, Queens or Manhattan? Or do I need to re-schedule my appt. to the date first before going in?

My case status just changed to RFE sent, so I'm hoping it's for the FP. Because of travel, I'm wondering if I can do a walk-in FP (either before or after the appt) to fit it into my schedule. Do they allow anywhere in Brooklyn, Queens or Manhattan? Or do I need to re-schedule my appt. to the date first before going in?
I believe you can walk in when you receive your FP letter only. Also if they will allow you to do the FP earlier it's totally up to the supervisor working that day and your persuasion. In my case, I walked in at a Queens location, the supervisor tried turning me back and come back at my scheduled date, but I was very persuasive and she finally gave in and allowed to get it done.
FP letter received but have dilemma-
So I just received my FP letter and it is for Jan 25th. But I'm out of the country at the moment and although I can come back for that date if really really needed, it would be more convenient if I could reschedule to the following week.
Thing is this, and would appreciate advise- the letter states: If you fail to appear as scheduled below or fail to reschedule your appt, the case will be considered abandoned.
But their rescheduling process is a bit warped- I have to send back that letter, ticking a box? There's no way to call and schedule, at least they haven't listed any way to do that.
Do you think I can just come the following week (that is 1st wk of Feb) and do a walk-in FP? If I don't send the letter back to reschedule immediately and don't show up by the 25th, will my case really be abandoned or will they wait for some time before they 'abandon' it?
