I'm currently a undocumented student in the US and back in '97 my parents did the I-130 petition to immigrate to America by the help with my aunt who is a US citizen. its been years now and im waiting for our priority date to come and we can readjust our status and recieve green cards. our lawyer adivise our sitution here is not as complex as others he's seen and we should just wait out till our date arrives. for the visa bulletins it does not seem that our date will become near anytime soon. is there anything i can do right now or should i just take my lawyers advice and just wait. i havent commited any felonies, expect being here illegally and i understand that fact i am illegal but i didnt have a choice. America is my home now, i'm not familar with the country both my parents grew up in. i heard about some form from INS its the I-485, i'm not sure what it is and if its affects me at all. does anyone know what i should do or experienced the same situation? thanks in advance.

JoeF, thanks for the reply but i was wondering wouldnt the the 245i under the Immigration and Nationality Act allow me to adjust my status when my priority date arrives because i entered the us legally with a tourist visa as a child but i overstayed due to education purposes.

the site above is from a friend who sent it to me and is also is a member of this forum and it mentions the INA 245(i) and many other immigration issues. if you are interested in the INA 245(i) this site will help you get an understanding. i just wanted people to know about it if they are in similar situations like me.
