Hi,

My wife applied for citizenship. She sent the documents on July 5th 2007. She got her finger printing done on August 23rd 2007. She is still waiting for the interview date. We are in Houston, TX. Anyone has any idea how long does it take?

Also, I am on H1B. Is there anyway I can get a EAD or any temporary permit based on my wife's green card?

This citizenship process is taking way too long!!

If you read a few posts on this board, you'll see that for anyone that applied in July or later of this year, the wait could be LONG time. USCIS is predicting a 15-18 month wait to become naturalized.

Hmm

Hi,

Thanks for the reply!

I had few people who applied after July 15th and their applications were processed. This is a very very very long wait time. I hope everything gets cleared soon.

consider name check delay

Hi,

not to make you tense but you are not considering name check delay(depends on individual case of course!). This long wait is considering the normal processing. If one gets stuck in name check it is loong delay added to normal processing time.

I filed in apr 2007 and no IL yet.
I am in for long wait even if I filed much early!

Wish you all the best.

Hmm

Hi,

Thanks for the reply! Yeah! I know name check can be pretty bad. My wife have been living here in US for 5 years. I guess this does not matter. :(

PS: You filed way early in April 2007 and still no interview letter. I guess this might be because this year in 2007 the fee got increased and many people submitted their application. :(

it happens when you least expect it

HI mazam,

Yes I filed way earlier in window but you cannot do anything when you get caught in name check. So all you can do is just file your application and pray that you dont get caught in name check:)

Regards

mazam,
sorry to say this to you but 'get back of the line' :) Check my dates at the bottom, you will see where we are. I have had few friends to get their citizenship before me, but i know there are people waiting for 2-4 years for the name check. Be patient even though it's easier said than it's done.

No, not until your wife becomes a USC and files the I-130/I-485 package. She could file the I-130 now and upgrade your petition later, but frankly its not going to save much time unless she gets stuck in namecheck for years.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply! I see you are in the same line for a long time. I guess there is nothing we can do but just .... wait and wait and wait!
