Waiting for GC no news yet??

Hello all,
I am waiting for GC is it a good idea to inquire ?

What is the procedure to inquire (I am pending Name check, my petition has been approved). During the interview my interviewer recommended that I do not inquire as it will delay the process ?

Any thoughts and comments will be helpful.
