There's one thing that's been on my mind and I don't want to start up a whole new thread on it if someone can shed some light on it here (for which I would be highly appreciative!).
Education-wise I have IGCSEs (I attended an international school so we had to do I (international) GCSEs) then followed up by the International Baccalaureate (IB) program so I've done 13 years of school - no problem on that front as far as a high school diploma goes.
My first question pertains to the work experience aspect. According to my reading we either require a high school diploma or 2 years minimum work experience in the last five years in an occupation designated as Job Zone 4 or 5 according to the O*Net database etc.
Now I am presuming that employed person/selectees would carry some form of reference to their interview to demonstrate this e.g. an existing work contract or employer's reference over the last 5 years.
How would someone who is self-employed show evidence of work experience? Do self-employed persons/selectees need to carry an affidavit letter from the company signed by co-directors?
In my specific case I have been in the family business (sounds like a line from a mafia movie lol) for approximately 8 years and the only way I can think of showing evidence is having my parents (who are the company directors alongside me) write a letter/sworn affidavit to the consular officer about my time in the company.
Would this work? Our local US Embassy has our records/information from previous US visits/visas/forms (and my parents just got issued a new set of B1/B2 visas) so I don't think an affidavit letter on behalf of the company signed by them would be a problem but I would be grateful for some feedback from my fellow forum friends on this.
Also (I just remembered this), would I necessarily need an I-134 from my aunt/uncle (both US citizens) if I am a self-petitioner and paying my own way through? They are only giving me lodging but no financial support. Do they need to prove they are giving me lodging? I normally always stay with them when I visit the US (and the local US embassy has record/information of this too from previous visa applications/US visits).
Look forward to receiving some feedback on these matters. The work experience matter, I-134 issue, police certificate and medical are the only things remaining for me before my interview in August (hopefully!)
Much appreciation to all who take the effort to respond to my queries
