Waiting for 485 receipt? Check your I-140 status often

485 RD: 6/25 at NSC, transferred to TSC

I-140 LUD: 7/28/07 (approved 6/12/06), so they touched my I-140 to make sure I was eligible to file I-485

485 ND: 8/6

Checks cashed: 8/8

485 receipt at attorney: 8/14

If I had known to check on my I-140, I would have saved myself a lot of heartburn over the last couple weeks.

Cool deal. Any kind of info that will tell us whether our 485 application was touched would help. Thanks for the tip.

As soon as I got this tip, I created an account on USCIS website, added my I-140 to my portfolio and found an interesting thing -
LUD on my I-140 is 07/22/07, even though I did not send my I-485 till yesteday (Aug 13).
I do not want to read much into this LUD thing, but a FYI for everyone else.

What is the status on your 485, BTW (485 at attorney - 8/14??).
485 at attorney: 8/14

Good point GCWudbeHere.

Yes, if for some reason they touch your I-140, you might be fooled thinking they were checking up for your 485.

So buyer beware for my tip.

If you have your I-140 case in your USCIS account, be sure to turn "Email on". I believe it will send you an email if they update it again, so you don't have to keep logging in.

On your other question, I meant to say "485 receipt at attorney: 8/14". Nothing about fingerprints yet.

Thanks stucklabor.

Any bit of information does help.
Bits and pieces help us unsolve the mystery around receipts.

I-140 LUD 08/05.
My (lawyer's) checks were cashed 08/10. Lawyer could not get receipt numbers from the back of the check.
No sight of receipt yet.
Hopefully by the end of this week.

stucklabor, do you know when your checks were cashed?
Just trying to get a feel for the time lag between cashing of checks and ND.
Thanks.

Looks like I am not alone in thinking that they did something with my 485 application that was sent out on 7/30/2007.

My 140 was approved on 5/24/2007, but I had a LUD on it, on 8/12/2007.

My 8th year H1, which was filed in April has been approved today!

another_fella...

It almost appears that the reason you had a LUD on your I-140 was because of your H-1B extension application. They probably checked up on the I-140 approval to confirm that all things were okay for the extension.

But surely, LUDs on I-140 are not for no reason. LUDs happen when cases are being handled, touched, reviewed, etc. except in cases of data management where there could be a mass update on LUDs for a lot of applicants.

I am also updating my details here. My lawyer received the receipt notices yesterday. LUD on I-140 was on Aug 5. Checks cashed Aug 10. Received receipts Aug 15. ND on receipt is Aug 9.
