Waiting after rfe

Hi everybody,

Does anybody know how long it takes for I-485 to get approved after a response for rfe has been sent?

I am a derivative of an employment based petitioner. My husband already had his I-485 approved a month ago. I got an rfe for medical and proof of status back in 1997 (or $1,000 penalty fee if I can not prove it)

I could not find my opt work authorization and send INS a check for $1,000 along with my medicals.

Also, can they deny my I-485 because I could not prove my status and admitted it by sending a check?

Now online status says:

On November 9, 2004, we received your response to our request for
evidence or information. It is taking between 660 and 660 days for us to
process this kind of case. However because preliminary processing was
complete, the remaining processing time will be less than the maximum
stated in this message. You will receive a written decision on this case.

Hi,

I am in the same situation as you are. My husband's I-485 has been approved about 5 months ago and I received an RFE two months ago to verify my stay and employement in the US in 2000. I was not able to get all the required docs so I sent $1000 cheque along with whatever relevant docs we could find to the USCIS. I got a FP notice 2 weeks back and we did the FP but the online status has not changed yet.

Please let me know if you do get any future notification from INS and I will let you know if I get any.

Also, I would appreciate if someone could let us know if this can be a reason for denial of I-485 ?

Thanks,

Got an appval notice in mail yesterday

:) I have received a courtesy letter (official notice has been mailed to the attorney) from INS today saying that my application for permanent resident status has been approved.

My online status did not change however. About a month ago a sent an inquiry about my case. INS replied with an approval notice on Nov 23rd but for some reason they did not change online status to approved but just to this:

On November 24, 2004, we responded to your request for more information concerning your case. If you have not received our response within 30 days from this date, please call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

My eyes refuse to believe that the whole ordeal is over. I am cautiously happy and hoping online status will change after Thanksgiving.

I recommend you to call an 800 number and ask about the status on your case. An operator has exactly the same info on your case as you do but she/he can send an inquiry. I think in my case, it was like a reminder and since they had all docs, $1,000 and the primary petitioner was approved they adjudicated my case. I might be mistaken but it does not hurt to call them anyway.

Good Luck
