"It was dark and wet Friday night when software programmer Alexander Dobrovolskiy walked out the door of his Palo Alto office.
The Ukrainian immigrant was headed home to a weekend with his wife and teenage son, for whom he had spent months swimming in paperwork to bring to the United States.
Seconds later, a hit-and-run driver struck the 38-year-old Palo Alto man as he crossed Alma Street at Everett Avenue. He died Saturday afternoon at Stanford University Hospital.
Dobrovolskiy was in the final stages of obtaining a green card when he was killed"
Poor fellow!
