Does anyone know about verifying WAEC results in London? My friend went for her interview in London and was placed on Further Administrative Processing and given instructions to go and verify her WAEC results at some address in London.
This is not the first time I've heard of this. I'm worried because my interview is next week and September 30 is just round the corner. This is not the time to be put on Further Administrative Processing! I have WAEC GCE O'Levels but I also have a degree. Would I also be asked to verify the WAEC results? If so how long does it take? Any answers Please. Thanks.

Re- WAEC Result Verification

Hi Macon,

Pls, we would like u to tell us why ur friend was asked to verify her result;

-Did she present WAEC Statements of Result or WAEC certificate?
-Is this a new requirement?
-Is the verification meant for those with results prior to 1993 or thereafter?
-Does someone with NECO (Nigeria) Certificate have to do verification as well?
-How do we verify here, in the UK (through scratch card or what?)?

It's like the whole issue is confusing. Pls, shed more lights.

Thanks.

I've asked my friend to register with this forum so she can explain more clearly what happened but from what she told me she took the WAEC (GCE O'Level)certificates to the interview. She had about 7 credits in her first sitting except for Mathematics in which she got a pass. She did a 2nd sitting in Maths and got a credit.

The Consular Officer gave her a sheet of paper even before she was interviewed and asked her to go to the WAEC London Agency (27 Lapstone Gardens in Middlesex) to verify the certificates. The Consular Officer said the Agency will forward the verification to the Embassy and they will call her to send in her passports when they receive the verification.

I asked another guy who did his interview in January and took his GCE O'Level WAEC Certificate and was not told to verify it. I don't know if it's a new requirement or maybe they doubted my friend's 2nd sitting and want to verify it. She is not worried about the verification, she is worried about the fact that September 30 is just around the corner and she cannot do anything to speed the process up. She just has to sit and wait until the embassy calls her.

I checked the London Agency contact details online, there is no telephone number to call them. My friend went to the address and her certificates were photocopied and her details taken. She said it costs £25. They said they will contact her after they've sent the verification to the embassy.

Thanks Macon

Thanks Macon for the vital info. I think individual situation might be different. Let's just hope & pray for success @ the end of it all!

Vital information

My friend just told me she was called by the US Embassy in London this morning stating that her visa is ready to be issued. She was asked to send her passport by SMS Courier to the Embassy!

My friend was put on administrative processing when she went for her interview in August. She was asked by the Consular officer to go to 27 Lapstone Gardens in London to verify her WAEC results. She took all her certificates to that address but the occupants promised to forward the request to the person responsible for doing the verification who also lives in London (no address provided). My friend was assured she was going to be contacted but she was never contacted by these people at Lapstone Gardens. She has been there on 3 occasions but each time she was told by the occupants of that address that her verification request has been forwarded to the person responsible. She contacted the US Embassy and was told it was her responsibility to chase it up!

My friend then requested the verification through the WAEC office in her native country. The WAEC office verified the result and sent it to the US Embassy in her country and asked them to forward it to the US Embassy in London. They did exactly that and this morning the US Embassy in London called her to send her passport! :)

I am taking my time to give out this information just in case someone else finds him/herself in the same situation. If the Embassy asks you to verify your results at Lapstone Gardens, go there but don't rely solely on them. Contact the WAEC office in your country as well and ask them to verify and fax it to the London US Embassy. I'm just advising you take a two-prong approach here. Good Luck to all of us that are on Further Processing and God Bless. :)

Hi,

Thanks for the information. Do you think having a WAEC scratch card handy will do the same job 'cos people use that a lot in Nigeria for there interview?.

Lastly, if one is married and using scratch card is impossible, will one have to do WAEC verification for spouse too?

Yes, I'll advise you take a WAEC scratch card to the interview. From what I know, only the principal applicant is asked to verify his/her certificate.

Verification of Results is not available to individual applicants but to Organizations and Institutions who want to authenticate the examination results of their prospective students and/or employees. They are required to submit photocopies of the documents presented by the students or employees to the Council.
