Since I did not receive FP even after I-140 approval and 9 months after I-485 filing, in May,2004, I asked my lawyer's paralegal if anything can be done about generating FP notice. She came back saying nothing can be done till the time the processing date go 30 days beyond I-485 RD. Waited and waited. On August 2, I came to find the FP fax inquiry form on this forum and sent it to the paralegal asking if we can send this inquiry as the form required Attorney's signature. This is what she wrote back on August 4-'Since your case is not past the processing time report, CSC will not respond to fingerprint inquiries. When an officer gets to your case, they will send out a fingerprint notice if you do not receive one before then' I don't know if the inquiry form was faxed at all but on Friday, August 6, arrive our FP notices to be done at Oakland scheduled for Sept 9. We get early FP done at a completely different ASC at San Jose. I Call FBI on August 12 and they say both FP were received and results sent back to CSC on August 10. On Aug 13, uscis site gets updated saying FP results were received on Aug 12. On Aug 24, someone on this site gives a pointer to pinnacle_man's sample informal letter to CSC saying FP done - cases are ready for approval.I fax it the same day. And then comes the email on August 27 saying approval notice was sent out on August 26.
I saw the approval late Sunday night as I was busy over the weekend. I was not very overjoyed. I can understand the frustration of people who have RD dates one year earlier than mine. I too had to go through this as at least 3 of my colleagues who have filed 2 weeks to one month after me were approved a month back. My understanding is after the lawsuit was filed USCIS is under tremendous pressure to not only clear the backlogs but also put on a user/customer friendly face. Besides the lawsuit, letters to senators and all the townhall meetings must have added to the pressure. Thanks to kashmir, I140_takes_4ever, Rajiv Khanna, rk4gc,Silly Man,pinncale_man and other volunteers who have taken this forum to a new level.
Best of luck everybody.
