any one has any idea of the timing ?.

Since I got laid off 5 weeks ago, and unable to find a similar job yet. I talked to my lawyer and applied for Unemployment Insurance. the UI office sent the status enquiry to INS, do anyone know what will happen if I could not find any job in similar position.
Is the whole process get reset ?
 
It seems like your 485 is still pending. Without an approved green card can one claim unemployment insurance? I thought one needs to be a permanent resident before one can avail of such benefits.

If i were you I would stay away from UI since when we filed 485 they asked if we took any disability benefits or employement benefits, I dont know what would have happened if we said yes there.

But certainly you should not be a burden on this country since you get ur GC instead contribute to this country by working and paying taxes, and by seeing the approval pattern you could get yours any time.

Why do you want to screw this up ? if it is a straight approval for you go get stamped and then apply for UI in mean time you plan for ur expenses.

And one more thing it does not mean u lose ur benefits if u apply late for UI, you still get 6 months from the date u apply, and not 6 months from the date u lose u r job.

There was an article in newspaper that some people filed UI this year even though they were laid off last year, since UI was increased this year.

So think about it and this is just my opinion.

Hope you get your approval soon.
