Hi Everyone,
My I-485 has been approved and we got our passports stamped in Newark.
Here are our details:
PD: 12/98 - EB2 India
Labor: 9/99
I-140: 6/00
I-485: 7/00
Approved: 7/01
Passport stamped : 7/01
Tips for passport stamping:
Went to EWR around 9 AM. There are 2 queues - one for collecting your documents and other for actual stamping. Since we went around 9AM, there were absolutely no one in the first queue. We were given a token and were told to wait for our turn in the another room for the actual stamping. There were atleast 100 people with tokens in the room before us, waiting for passport stamping.( Some of them had come at 6 AM and have been waiting outside to get in, it seems. Their wait time in the first queue ranged between 2 - 2.5 hrs. Since we went in at 9 AM, our wait time was ZERO)
In the second room, where the actual passport stamping happens, there are 10 counters- the queue for stamping moves at an average of 10 tokens/3 min. Our turn came in about 35 min. and we were out by 9.45 AM.
So we went in at 9 AM and were out by 9.45 AM.
Moral of the story: You don\'t have to go early in the morning. If you go early, you don\'t save anything. you will get caught in the crowd and have to wait 2 hours just to get in.
I am told that we have to get our Social security records changed after stamping- Can anyone shed light on this?.
This site has been wonderful. Thanks to everyone for their contribution.
Thanks
