VSC N-400: Case Status not found (pre-interview)

Folks,

I recently submitted N-400 to VSC, and received the receipt (Priority Date of 5th April). When I enter the receipt number (ESC*00XXXXXXX) into the VSC on-line status check website, it says "Case status not found". The complete error message is:

Status for this Receipt Number cannot be found at this time in this automated system. Please check your case receipt number to see if it is correct. If you have questions or concerns about your case status, please contact the service center where you submitted your application.

I was wondering if we can actually even check the status online pre-interview. From other posts, it seems that post-interview you can check your status on-line, and if it disappears then that is a sign for Oath. But I am at a very early stage of my N-400 process.

I had the same situation... do not concern your self with the online status, it does not get updated most of the time and does not have much value.
