VSC IIO refused to comment on FP quality

I called FBI some time back and they refused to disclose any info regarding the quality of my FP , stating that it has been processed and sent back to INS. So I called VSC IIO today and the gentleman(IIO) refused to comment on the FP quality. He did say however that VSC has received it but will not comment on the quality. He further said that if it needs to be re-done then the notice will be sent after 60 days of first FP. Is this normal? Aren\'t they supposed to tell whether it got accepted or rejected. Became very helpless after talking to IIO today. Don\'t know what to do? Should I call one more time to find out the quality of FP?

Any comment will be well appreciated.

Thanks.

Judging the Quality of the FP is the problem of FBI because the whole purpose of this process of the FP is that FBI must verify if you have any criminal record. If FBI had no problem then INS should not have any problem. Don\'t concern yourself unnecessarily. Don\'t bother talking to IIO about FP quality because it is FBI rejecting the FP not INS.

Hope this helps

But Bhanu how will I know whether the FP was good or bad or whether I have to re-do or not? Nobody says anything and that is quite mystifying.Only thing I want to know whether it was accepted or rejected. If rejected then I should brace myself for further delay otherwise I could have some peace.

I must acknowledge that you are doing wonderful job of responsing query of many people here. I wish you luck buddy.

Thanks.

Thanks for your comment. Basically, little that I know I chose to share and that\'s all.

The answer to your question: Try calling FBI again and asks them if everything looks good. In my case, the FBI liason told me that everything was good and they sent the information to INS. I think FBI should be able to tell if FP is rejected. If you had an electronic FP, the the FP center notifies you immediately upon FP completion. The best thing is to call FBI 2/3 at separate intervals. Don\'t even bother calling IIO because the problem really originates at FBI if FP is not good.

I pray everything is OK.

However there is a new policy which came about 2-4 weeks back that FBI is now not allowed to disclose the results (good or bad). I called them on three occasions and they gave me the same answer.

The answer should really come from the INS (VSC center).

Actually, from the 23rd of March, there seems to be a policy change at the FBI, due to which they will only say if the fingerprint results have been sent back to the INS and when. They will not reveal whether it is good or bad.

I think it depends where you did your FP. We did ours at INS Manchester and the guy told us
if things were not OK, we\'d get a letter within 2 weeks. We did get a redo-letter (for my wife\'s FP) after about
2 weeks and they gave us a redo date in a week.
I don\'t know if the 2 weeks thing holds for other FP centers.
They also told us not to worry about FP rejection. If it\'s rejected as "unclassifiable" more than twice,
you just need to get a "good conduct certificate" from your local police station.
