Volunteer work while on F-1 status

Is it possible for a person to perform some volunteer work related to the studies while on a F-1 status in USA?

That is not true. You can't get paid for your work while in F-1, but you can volunteer all you want. Volunteer work is totally okay. I don't understand where you found information that any kind of work is forbidden.
