Hi Everybody,

I have invited my parents over and they will be arriving shortly by the end of this month. Obviously they are on B-2 Visa. Now the question is the following.

If they get 6months at the POE and end up staying 180days, can I claim them as dependents while filing my taxes for 2002?

Are they even eligible to obtain a TIN?

No. Even a US Citizen would have an extremely difficult time claiming their parents as dependents (in fact, I'm not sure it is even possible under any circumstances).
 
But one of friends said he got a TIN for his visting mother and included his mother as dependent in tax filing. So I think it's possible! But as it's an Attorney who says that it's not posible let me double check it!
