Visitor visa - travel to japan - reentry

My mom is here on a visitor visa (multiple entry till 2012). Her current i-94 states that her stay ends on Jul 19. We are planning a trip to japan (on tourism) and my question was regarding her reentry to the US. We will reenter before Jul 19. Will she have any issues on reentry?

I'm assuming she will have to surrender her i-94 when she leaves for Japan. Will she get a new one on reentry? Will her new I-94 restrict her till jul 19th?
She does intend to leave the US, but I was wondering if we could ask for some extra time for her to recover from jet lag before she leaves for India.
 
There really should not be any problem cos she has a valid visitors visa, the I94 only defines the length of stay in the US for the current visit, once she leaves for her japan trip she'll surrender her current I94 and when she returns from japan to the US, that will be a brand new entry and she'll be issued with a new I94 possibly for another 6 months.
 
Avoid the problem, fly to India from Japan.

Otherwise it depends on how long she has been in US and how long she will be in Japan.
