My 6th year H1 period will expire in Aug'04, I have applied for my GC my I-140 got approved Jul'03 and I-485 is pending since Sept'02 at VSC.

I have sent papers for my in laws and they are going to the consulate, if they qualify to get a visitor visa how long they may get? will it be based on my H1 expiration date or not

can some one reply to this, Thanks inadvance

Good Luck everybody!

It really depends on what sponsor papers you sent along and the clown at the consulate who processes your parents application.

My experience is that if you show your status as H1B there is a good chance your parents will get a 10year visa. If you show your status as 'AOS pending' don't be surprised if the visa is only for a year. When I got my in-laws to the US my status was H1B and they got a 10-year visa. After I filed for AOS I got my dad here and he only got 1 year. I have seen this trend with a couple of my friends as well. AFAIK, its always 10 years or 1 and does not depend on your visa expiration.
