Visitor visa - please help - very critical

my problem

Experts help. my mom was granted Visitor visa for 6 months. valid until sep 25. unfortunately she had to undergo heart surgery and she will not be able to think about it for the next 3 months.

my question is, if i reapply, will this situation of "having granted visa but not travelled/used" become a drawback and further visa grants for her.

what are the possibilities. any suggestions are welcome.

tyhanks you all very much in advance.

I know one case similar to your case

One of my friend\'s father got visitor\'s visa and could not travel as he had a heart attack. When he reapplied, it was declined. He has shown proof of his health condition. I guess that would have further added to the reason for US consulate to decline. ANyway, good luck. Try whatever, you could.

She will get it again.

As long as there are supporting document there should be no problem.

No Title

I have some of my relatives who got a visa in 2001 but never travelled on it. Later in 2002, they re-applied and they got it again.

I guess vbk is right. As long as you can support them , you are OK.

answer

If she has got visa (issued by consulate) valid till Sept 25, then she can travel to USA anytime before Sept 25. Assuming she travels on Sept 20th, then at the airport immigration post, the officer will decide how long more she can stay, i.e., 1 month to 6 month from Sept 20th.

GCSEEK2002 - is correct ...

Yes. Visa is only for entering into US. At POE officer will decide how long you will stay based on your requirements. I-94 will tell the date you should leave the country.

Sounds logical.

OK her visa is until sep 25 and if i bring her in by sep 5th, u say that she might be granted until march 5th (6 months). now is there any time limit set for travel or she can come in by sep 25th??? and get 6 months. how does it work.

i mean how sure is it to get a 6 months in this situation???

thanks very much for ur time friends
