Hi,

We are planning to extend my Mom's Tourist visa for another 6 months.

I understand that I need to attach
the cover letter stating the reason for the extension,
bank statement to prove the financial support,
Show the financial ties in India to prove that she will go back within the extended 6 months.

My Mom has only 6 months ticket (not the one year valid ticket), I can get that extended from the airline office in USA.

But if I attach that ticket stating we applied for extension of airticket, will the INS accepts that?

Please let me know if I am missing anything.

My advice for you and your mom is "please dont extend your mom's visa. Its not good to extend your visa here". Becoz my mom extend her visa here for another 6 months and she got rejected 3 times by US embassy in india. I advice you to ask your mom to go back to india and get stamping again and come over here. As a friend i am advicing you.

My Mom holds 10 Year multiple entry visa which expires only in 2012.

We are working on to extend her stay here for another 6 months.

I agree with Satya, it is better that your Mom returns to India and come back after a few months, even though you have a multiple entry visa - the POE officials may deny entry the next time your mother comes to US (well, they may give a hard time (and let them enter) and threaten that they will invalidate the visa if the visa holder continues such extensions time and again). If return visit is not going to happen soon (in another 2 years or so), then maybe you can get the extension (but still it may be a risk - do some risk analysis).
