Dilemma: CIS approved visa extension & sent approval letter on Sep 16th 2004 to address on file. Unfortunately, address on file is my old-address, we moved to a new-address 5 months back.

Spoke to the national-customer-service (CIS), the gentlemen said , it will be very unlikely that this APPROVAL LETTER will be forwarded (being a federal mail).

Spoke to the local-post office, they are telling me that there is no reason why they should not forward the letter.

Spoke to the postman, he says, if there is clear demarkation saying "DO NO FORWARD", then it will be returned to the SENDER.

my question,
- which statment is true ?
- can i request the post-office to hold it so that i can collect it personally (instead of letter being delivered to my old-address)

please help.

Thanks JoeF

Thanks JoeF.

the good news is , i went to the local postoffice, explained the situation, the gentleman requested my contact-number .He said that he will watch- for that letter for a week, but no obligation

how lucky iam, the postmaster called me back , said they found the letter .

Went right away & collected it.

JoeF, you are right
- there wasn't any "donot forward" on this letter
- the postmaster refused to put a hold for 30 days, because i don't live at my old-address no more.

glad it worked out well. Thank you
