I intend to sponsor my elder sister for a visitor visa. She is single, about 55 years old, and she is currently not employed. This is the first time that she will be applying. What are her chances of getting a visitor visa?

Probably not very good, specially since she is single. If she can show strong ties to India in the form of a steady and well paying job, investments, other sources of income and ownership of properties like land, apartments, house, etc. then she has a good chance.

Check the consulate website for appointment details. She will not have to wait too long for an interview if she chooses English.
