Visitor Visa and Consular Processing

Hi:

I'm a canadian PR living in Canada and also going through consular processing for US immigration.

I need to visit US before the consular interview. If I apply for a visitor visa (NIV), will that have any impact on my petition for IV i.e. consular processing?
