Visiting visa

Hello, Currently my mother is in USA on visitor visa. Her I-94 expires on may 19.
I have applied her visitor visa extension around 1 month ago. So far, we received a receipt from USCIS.

1) Can she stay in US after May 19?
2) Can she leave USA before her visiting visa extension is approved? if so, What will happen to that duration?
3) If it denies, she will leave USA immediately, but how that duration is considered?

Please let me know. Thanks for your help.

1. Yes, as long as the Extension of Status application is pending.
2. Yes. She stayed legally during that time. The Extension of Status application will be abandoned. She should make sure to hold onto the EOS receipt to prove in the future that her stay was legal.
3. Again, the time the application was pending was legal. Starting from the day it is denied, she will start accruing "unlawful presence"; also, her visa will be voided.
