Visiting Relative Refuses to Return to Home Country. What Shall I Do?

I have a relative who has been visiting me for over 6 months. Although his visa only allowed him to stay for 6 months, he refused to return to his home country after his visa expired a month ago. This causes me a lot of emotional and financial stress. I really want him to return leave ASAP.

I don't want to call the Immigration to get him deported, because I cannot do that to my own family. Without getting him deported (and having him get a bad record), what options do I have to make him leave?

FYI, I've filed immigrant petition for my other family members. Therefore, I do not want my action to have any negative impact on their chances of immigrating to the U.S. in the future. I also do not want to affect the very stubborn relative's chance of immigrating to the U.S. in the future, either.

Any advice would be appreciated!

So, this relative is living off your money? How about cutting his funds so that he can either move out and search for an illegal job somewhere or goes back home? I bet he would find it easier to go back home. You can tell him that he is now an illegal alien, and that you are breaking the law by sheltering him. If that does not work, than nothing else will (except calling ICE, of course).

If he is living with you, or you are supporting him, you have no option but to fix it or be seen as an accomplice if he gets caught. For you to worry about other immigration petitions when you are not willing to honor your other commitments ... you are just confusing the issue for your benefit.

But yeah, millions of people live illegally in US. Maybe 1 more will not hurt and will get naturalized as part of the comprehensive immigration reform !!
