Visiting friends

Other than names and address, do the inspector at the US embassy ask about where or how you meet your friends that you want to visit in the states? If they do, what if, for instance, you're going to visit friends you met on the internet and have been talking through phones?

Not matter, A friend is a friend, no matter how, where, and when did you meet....but the matter is... Why is the reason you want to meet your friend.. and In most of the cases...consulate will never ask why,how,did you become friends......

The important thing is your ties in india, job, family, financial, property, etc.
Better is dont tell about your friends, just go as tourist..
