Visit visa for a week

Hi,
I am an Indian working in Muscat-Oman.
I did apply for visit visa to take exam in US but they rejected my application on the basis that I could not produce sufficient documents to show economic and social ties with my home/resident country.
Please let me know that what document I should produce next time and how much bank balance should be there in my account.
I want to visit just for 5 –7 days.

What exam do you want to take? If it is something that could lead to employment in US, they would obviously be cautious before granting u visa.

Ideally, you should apply for visa from your home country (india). Apply for regular visa to "visit" US for "tourism". You can show parent's dependency as a case for "ties to your country" but it would be hard for you as you are already living outside your country. Funds - $30,000 would be more than enuf.
