Visa validation and change name issue plz help me

Hello,

I'm on H1 Visa and my middle name and firstname was interchanged in my passport for a long time and I got it corrected recently when I applied for new Passport.

Now I am sending my passport(s) (old and new attached to each other) for VISA stamping. But in my Visa and I94 still have the interchanged old name. Do I have to send any extra Document(s) along with the regularly required documents for VISA stamping?

I do not think you require any additional document. New passport with a correct name should be enough to prove your name change.

how did you get your name changed in your passport,Iam having the same problem,my first name and last name was interchanged,but so far all the documents here has the first name and last name right,except for passport which went un noticed till now.I noticed when my visa revalidation here came with name as in passport,now i have send it for correction.will the indian embassy in washington dc do the name correction.Can you give the details.

How to Change Name in Passport

It is a long procedure but surely doable.

1. Go to an attorney in INDIA and get an Affidavit for Name change stating the reason for name change.

2. You have to post an Ad. in your hometown Local News paper (at least one in English and one in your Local Language paper)

3. Also Post an ad. in the news paper of town youa re living here in United States (Chronicle) and some Indian News Papers.

4. Take the affidavit and the News Papers to the Passport Office. Fill-in a Name change Form and you will be issued a New passport thereafter.
