Hi

I am a H-1 visa holder.
I got laid off a couple of days ago,so how long would it be before I lose my visa status.I spoke to many people but I get different answers all the times.
If I don\'t find employment before I am out of status,do I need to go back to India.

60 days. If you don\'t file for an h1-b through the new company within 60 days, you are out of status.

Should I stay or should I go

I am on H1. I had a project based job and hence my last paycheck before I was laid off was in April (hence over 60 days) - but I was really let go recently - 3 weeks ago. Am I out of status? Company is willing to give a document that verifies that layoff was 3 weeks ago but last pay check is from April-- please help.
