Visa revalidation while employer change

I got my H1 extended through a previous company. I sent my Passport and previous company I-129 etc to St Louis for visa re-validation while another company applied for my H1 transfer at the time when I sent my papers. I left the previous company to work with current company in a week after sending papers to St Louis. I haven't recieved any information as yet.

Did I do something illegal? Is it ok to travel with a visa that has previous employer information and current employer papers?

Please advise.
